PETERMANN GLACIER, GREENLAND, N 80° 45’ 01’’ W 60° 45’ 03’’ - COORDINATES COLLECTION

This location is special in many ways: beautiful sceneries, immense proportions, dynamic environment and research importance. The melting of the glacier has created stunning blue rivers on its surface, so unique that they seem out of this planet. However, this melting is also bringing some trouble to the glacier and to global sea level rise. Scientists estimate that if the Petermann glacier collapses completely, global sea levels would rise by about 30cm. This is enough to wipe out entire coastal cities.
