The Puffin Rescue Centre, located within the Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of pufflings and adult puffins. The Vestmannaeyjar archipelago hosts Iceland’s largest breeding colony of Atlantic Puffins, with over 700,000 pairs migrating to the islands each summer. During the end of summer, many pufflings become disoriented and need help to safely reach the ocean. The Centre, along with local volunteers and organizations, works tirelessly to care for these birds, addressing injuries, oil contamination, and malnutrition.
